Inspiring Celebs Who Love Martial Arts
Recently, there has been a surge of celebrities taking up martial arts. Whether it began as film preparation, self defense, or just a general interest - they can't seem to get enough of it!

There is a vast range of styles of Martial Arts, but all offer a total body workout as well as teaching discipline and building confidence, a necessity in the world of showbiz.

Ashton Kutcher - Jiu-Jitsu

Comedian and actor Ashton Kutcher is a huge fan of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, practising the sport to maintain his lean physique. Kutcher is so passionate about it, he has even travelled to Brazil to practise! BJJ promotes self defence, and works upon the basis that you can defend yourself against anyone as long as you have the right moves and are well prepared.

Ryan Gosling - Muay Thai

Gosling learnt Muay Thai for his role in hit film Only God Forgives. He practised for 2 hours a day, 4 days a week to keep his muscular, toned build. Muay Thai is incredibly physically demanding, requiring you to be constantly moving. The form is know for its unique use of elbows and knees in addition to fists and feet, often regarded as "the art of eight limbs".

Jason Statham - Jiu-Jitsu

Despite being most well known for his chiseled abs. fitness isn't the reason that Statham practises Jiu Jitsu! He uses the ancient art for relaxation, and to ground him.

"It brings a bit of peace. Any of the guys who have a skill within the fighting world, whether it be judo, jiu-jitsu, boixng, Thai boxing - they're very peaceful people and the only aggression they have time for is when it's in a competition type role."

Ellie Goulding - MMA

Pop sensation Ellie Goulding practises both boxing and MMA to help her stay toned and slender, but also to help build her stamina for when she is onstage. Mixed Martial Arts is renowned for building strength and power by combining the power from boxing and kick boxing with the strength needed for grappling to create a well-rounded workout.

Khloe Kardashian - Boxing

Reality star and member of the Kardashian clan revealed that boxing helped her to shift over 20 pounds. She enjoys the workouts because they're fun and keep her motivated, preventing her from throwing in the towel on exercise. The high intensity of boxing means that it burns calories fast, and can dramatically help with weight loss.

Demi Lovato - MMA

Singer and body-confidence advocate Demi Lovato uses a range of martial arts styles including MMA, Ju Jitsu and Muay Thai to stay fit, confident and healthy. Demi has battled with various mental health issues in the past, and has said that her MMA training has been "definitely therapeutic" for her, both physically and mentally.
